I'm damn sure, he isn't the one to cut off fuel switches. Someone else did, and then asked whether FO did it, so that it gets recorded on the CVR.? Red flag right there. 

Someone who dosent have tons of hours and get a chance to operate first sector, he ain't no way moving his focus and his hands and eyes from lookin outside, FD, etc., rather mistakenly cutting off start levers? Red flag.

Lets wait for non-fabricated final report. But thorough background check, medical records., last psychometry results, etc should be done for specifically capt. 

IRPPC which are to be performed and pass every yr, its get recorded inside FFS simulator. Camera recordings can show, if previously, similar mistakenly switching off the start levers/fuel switches were done? , inadvertently doing something out of ordinary at the crucial stage of flight,?

This is quite a misleading title. Quick google search indicates 3.2% of workers call out sick each day. Air India has over 3,000 pilots. So you would expect around 110 to call out sick each day.

This is question for AAIB/WSJ if the flight voice/data shows early RAT + gear up fail + batt fail and no physical fuel switch off and co-pilot wrongly accusing pilot of flipping fuel switch and senior pilot was reportedly complacent and in denial about the dire situation.   If there is any indication of cause not being deliberate/accidental fuel switch, I request WSJ immediately come clean and retract their  misleading statement to the public.   Send this to WSJ and have them investigate.  Lack of reasonably prompt retraction from WSJ I take as they are sticking to their guns for good reason.   Somehow WSJ has seemingly become designated news leaker for NTSB, for AI#171 and ChinaEastern 5735.   Also MH370 WSJ was a lead role.

Not sure why I've turned up to defend this as I've no skin in the game (just a random dude). Sound quality is awful, but found his analysis quite compelling (watched it &amp; his follow up video several times). He works for the "richest man in the world" in a related field (Starlink best guess) &amp; not a YouTuber by his own words hence the audiovisual quality of video.

His scenario fits the sequence of events &amp; the known RAT deployment timeline etc. If there's a real issue, it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Not sure if his theory should be completely discounted as a possible scenario when the interim report itself has plenty of inconsistencies with nobody brave enough to put their signature to it. Look forward to the final findings and hope they don't act as a cover up for either the airline or the manufacturer.

those are very low hours for pilot and co-pilot! I believe this to be the standard for foreign carriers though.  The co-pilot could have simply lowered flaps instead of raising gear. Crazy to think such a modern plane could be taken down by such a simple human error. I would think there would be computer safety measures that would stop that from happening.  But the RAT deploying kind of blows up all theories besides the astronomical odds of both engines going out!  Bad fuel?

OP - one US expert identified what appears to be deployment of the RAT engine, which deploys in 3 catestrophic scenarios (dual engine failure, loss of hydrolics / controls  etc). This has shifted his opinon / working theory  to dual engine failure.

It appears that this was possibly a dual engine failure. The last communication of the pilots revealed they experienced loss of engine thrust. The cell phone footage appears to show the RAT device deployed under the belly of the aircraft. This is also confirmed by the sound accompanying that descending aircraft which resembled a propeller sound. Also the survivor reported a change in aircraft cabin lighting on descent suggesting an electrical change which supports the RAT deployment possibility.

I believe the co-pilot error theory is correct where instead of pulling up the landing gear they pulled something else that had to do with the wings and reduced the ability of the plane to lift. The combined experience of the pilot and especially the co-pilot was light.

I saw a pilot on TikTok saying the aircraft deployed a propeller that basically makes electricity power for the critical onboard systems in case of complete shutdown while 33k feet in the air. He said that the RAT system as he called it was already deployed during takeoff meaning that the airplane had already identified a critical problem with the aircraft.
